Back from Vacation…

I had an amazing week up north in the beautiful Rangeley Maine area. Great family time and lots of fun. My girls ’suffered’ through many moose rides…this means being dragged out night after night to drive the wooded roads looking for deer and moose for about 1 1/2 hours each night. Not as lucky as I have been in the past (one night I saw 40 moose!) but we saw decent numbers. Here are some shots…Enjoy!

Vacation and changes

If you have been wondering why there was a lack in posts I just returned from vacation! We went to visit Mickey Mouse and braved the freezing cold weather in Florida! Here are some photos with more to come…

(our oldest braved the Rockin’ Roller coaster this year so I picked that one for her and the youngest loved the train….and of course I couldnt skip the castle!)

Puerto Rico

I snuck away with my husband to Puerto Rico this past week….and had a blast! I went when I was about 13, so I knew some things I wanted to see again but I also wanted to explore some new things. We traveled all over the island and there was still so much to see….perhaps a return trip?!?! I highly recommend this beautiful island…it is so rich in history and photographically fabulous! Here are some shots from Old San Juan, the Rio Camuy Caves, and El Yunque (the rain forest).

I recently went to the big apple with our spanish exchange student and my oldest daughter along with our host group for the exchange students. It was a quick but full two day trip and we had so much fun. Our first day was really foggy and it sprinkled all day…so the photos are not that fantastic but I thought I would share anyway! A little contest…name each of the places in the photos and you win a free mini session.

The fine print: Mini session is a 20-30 minute session that must be held by November 15th. Does not include prints. Value of $75. Contest ends Monday the 17th at 9am.

Travel: Newport, Rhode Island

I was able to sneak away to Newport Rhode Island this week for a much needed kid-free ‘holiday’ by myself. ’Mr. Sugar’ watched the rugrats and let me get away for some much needed R&R. I highly recommend visiting Newport if you love history…and for the ladies if you love all things shiny and expensive! Newport is a living historical community that has preserved the summer ‘cottages’ of the richest families in the early 1900’s. These ‘cottages’ are simply some of the most amazing homes still standing and the inside has also been restored and furnished completely as it was in 1900-1910. Sadly, I was not allowed to photograph indoors so I can only show outdoor photographs.

If you are heading to Newport, I highly recommend purchasing the 5 pack for the houses and visiting Marble House, the Breakers, Rosecliff, The Elms and Green Animals. A little trivia is that the Rosecliff has been used in many movies including True Lies, the Great Gatsby, 27 dresses and more.

Here are some from the Topiaries / Green Animals in Portsmouth RI…I absolutely LOVE Oriental Poppies, apparently in RI they only bloom for about 10 days and I was lucky enough to be there during this time!

This is what I call macro-licious! I was up close and personal with the bees with my macro lens!
